Alan Stokes was raised on the South West beaches of Cornwall England where from the age of six he spent more time in the ocean than on dry land, his parents thought he was a fish so it was only a matter of time until he picked up a surfboard and started riding it.

At the age of thirteen Alan was competing and winning national surfing events, touted as the next big thing it was clear Alan’s dream of being a professional surfer was being mapped out in front of him.

Alan was picked to represent his country at the European championships at only fourteen years old and at sixteen was crowned English Cadet Surfing Champion soon after he turned professional and began competing on the European Junior Tour where in 1999 he finished ranked 2nd.

Since then Alan has travelled and competed all over the world representing his country six times in European and World surfing events taking Britain in to the top ten surfing nations in the world for the first time ever at the 2006 World Surfing Games.

Alan competes on the World Qualifying Series Tour and UK Pro Tour and in 2001 Alan finished 3rd in a World Qualifying Event in Portugal.

British Champion two years running in 2004 and 2005 and winning the English Nationals for the second time Alan capped of a remarkable year in 05 winning the prestigious UK Professional Surfing Tour.

Making him British, English and UK Pro Tour Champion all at the same time. It was his dream to be a surfer and turn pro and with the odds stacked against him he hasn’t looked back.

Alan has just become the 2009 UK Pro Tour Champion for the second time. Other results this year include 1st place at the Pantin Expression session Spain and 1st place at the UKPST Newquay Night Surf.

Alan is an ambassador for Make A Wish, a charity helping children with life threatening illnesses he is also an active member and works with the National Trust who conserve and protect are coastlines.
