Meet Will Powell: Championship Winning Racing Driver

​

Will is a championship-winning professional racing driver who has raced in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), British GT and the Michelin Le Mans Cup.

​

Currently graded as a Silver by the FIA, Will was the 2021 British Endurance Champion in a McLaren GT3 regularly competes in sports car series alongside private clients.

​

He is a Grade A ARDS instructor who works closely with clients to improve their track and race performance.

​

In addition, he has raced, coached and acted as development driver for manufacturers including Brabham, McLaren, Mercedes AMG and Praga.

Will took an unusual route to top level motorsport. With no karting background or family funding, he has had to rely on his sponsorship and media skills to get drives, always seeing racing as a business-first exercise.

Alongside a stop-start junior racing career, Will’s first job was as road tester on Autocar Magazine with Haymarket Publishing. This gave him a break into media and advertising in magazines and television which led to more racing opportunities

​

He eventually moved into performance vehicle marketing roles at Jaguar Land Rover in 2009 before starting a sponsorship agency that was acquired by Chime Sports Entertainment who he still consults for.

​

Will worked with the motorsport division of Anglo-American sports car company Brabham Automotive helping to develop the BT62 and raced the car alongside David Brabham in the marque’s return to competitive motorsport in 2019. The duo ultimately scored a first-place finish with Will setting fastest lap of the race.
